Gordon Lyons is a Reformed‑leaning evangelical writer and Bible teacher based in Largs, Scotland. His ministry spans more than forty years of local‑church teaching, pastoral care, and doctrinal instruction. Over the course of his service, Gordon’s work was deeply shaped by the fellowship and shared ministry of two close friends and colleagues—Dr. W. E. F. Naismith and Rev. Ron McMillan—both now with the Lord. For many years the three men alternated weekly teaching responsibilities, a rhythm of ministry that provided stability, depth, and continuity for the congregations they served. Their influence continues to inform Gordon’s approach to exposition, pastoral sensitivity, and doctrinal clarity.

Gordon is best known for authoring the Bible Truths Explained series, a structured doctrinal resource designed to present the foundations of Christian belief in clear, accessible language. Originally written to help new believers and those without theological background, the series has grown into a widely used teaching tool for churches, study groups, and individual readers. Drawing on conservative evangelical scholarship and a commitment to exegetical precision, the series aims to make complex doctrines understandable without sacrificing depth or fidelity to Scripture.

He is currently preparing a comprehensive ESV‑based revision of Bible Truths Explained, updating language, structure, and supporting references to strengthen clarity for modern readers, including those for whom English is a second language. This revision reflects Gordon’s long‑standing conviction that sound doctrine should be both faithful to Scripture and accessible to ordinary believers.

Gordon also authors the New Testament Expository Notes series. This is being updated to a Second Series of NT Expository Notes. He aims to add these revised titles to the existing library from time to time (DV).

Whether writing, teaching, or mentoring, Gordon’s work is marked by a commitment to careful exegesis, theological accuracy, and the pastoral desire to help Christians grow in their understanding of God’s Word.
